Your Rating. Overview . Stella is the fourth studio album by the Swiss electronic band Yello, first released in Germany, Switzerland and Austria on 29 January 1985, and in the UK and US in March 1985. It was the first album made by the band without founder member Carlos Perón, and with his departure the remaining duo of Boris Blank and Dieter Meier began to move away from experimental electronic sounds towards a more commercial synthpop and cinematic soundtrack style. As well as becoming the first album ever by a Swiss group. Reviews of the Stella - Eternity (1):
GAZANIK
The Lovely Clouds mix is in IMO a very nice piece of trance. My main musical interest is trance produced in 1990 through 1996. Starting with 1997, the style got very commercial and I'm not the biggest fan of late 90's to early 00's trance. A lot of it sounds too similar: Generic beat arrangement, predicable breakdowns, bad vocal samples and uninteresting melodies.

Sunnyside Up as it stands, is a dance label that released mostly commercial dance music. I was recently browsing the catalog. Found some good tracks from their early years. Going to 1997-2001. Found mostly crappy or boring dance tracks. I actually, sampled this track months ago (Available as a digital download.), at first glance, I was not interested in this release. While it did sound better than a lot of other stuff released later on Sunnyside Up I didn't find anything special about this track. Boy was I wrong!. I decided to revisit this and examine more carefully why I didn't enjoy this track very much. Turns out that I wasn't paying too much attention to the Lovely Clouds Mix but rather on Club Mix which is very decent, not as good as the Lovely Clouds Mix

The Lovely Clouds Mix IMO uses a less conventional formula compared to your average Joe late 90's trance. It doesn't start with a boring generic beat and slowly adds layers. It starts with a nice trance arpeggio and a nice jingle melody that thankfully doesn't evolve into bad cheese. Nice spacey special effects, good drum samples and a choice of solid vocal samples also help this track distinguish itself from most generic trance music of it's time. The epic breakdown is nice which is very good since it doesn't ruin the listening experience which ruins quite a few trance tracks from the late 90's. My only very minor complaint is that the vocal samples are overused, which might interfere somewhat with the listening.

Despite being released in 1999. It sounds a few years older. Definitely an obscure gem fans that older trance should check out.
