"By The Time I Get to Phoenix": Pat Boone did it first on 45 single!

First 45 single recorded after "By The Time I Get to Phoenix" appeared as an Lp track on Johnny Rivers's CHANGES album on Imperial, which dates roughly about November, 1966. Rivers' version was in the title track "sweet" spot on the album, track one, side one, but inexplicably no 45 was released on the song. Boone's version, here, was recorded about mid-July, 1967, and the 45 wasn't released until early September. Boone's version shows A&C credit to Bill Justus, formerly A&R with Smash/Mercury Records in Nashville, but Boone's recording here is supposedly made in Los Angeles, and that Glen Campbell was at this session (?), heard the song, and rush recorded it himself with Capitol about three weeks later. The dominant solo instrument on Boone's recording features a piano and any guitar presence on this recording is way, way down in the mix (GC usually did rhythm guitar on his sessions). Boone's version locally charted in SoCal about a week before Glen Campbell's version started to appear on local radio charts, and Campbell's version swamped Boone's. Boone's version never made it to Lp nor CD; this 45 is mono, so no Boone stereo version. Obviously, Boone's version of "Ride Ride Ride" is a cover of Lynn Anderson's hit on Chart Records (later, by Brenda Lee).
