Reviews of the King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King (An Observation By King Crimson) (9):
Thomeena
After a back to back comparison, the 2010 re issue is excellent if you're looking to fill a spot in your shelf with an occasional play, but if this LP is one of your desert island picks, get the MFSL, it wins over the re issue. Now to find a nice 1st UK to audition, based on other reviews, I'm looking foward to it. [hopefully I won't have to spend what the MFSL cost]
Rgia
I had read that the MFSL is from a back up tape. The only source from original master tape is Island solid pink and the 2010 pressing where they found the 2 track mix down in a closet. The original German is probably my favorite pressing though.
fightnight
My two cents.... I own several versions and this is the best one I have heard. The output is slightly lower than most pressings but the spacial quality and inner detail is much improved. If you have an audio system capable of the highest resolution, it is worth it. If your set up is not, save your money and enjoy the music. After all, enjoying the music is the point, no?

Question to anyone who owns this release: how does this sound?
Inerrace
Its my go to copy, and I think it sounds amazing
Asyasya
Sounds Overpriced. Buy the first UK if you can get a clean copy!
Mr.Champions
Taking into account that I'm talking about the sound of the pressing , through a high quality vinyl flac copy ... it sounds better than the early pressings , yet still it seems to be of the same fabric ... if i were you , I would go for the 2010 DGM reissue (y)

This one is the biggest and most important rock albums for all times!!! I have 1st US Press LP in my collection!!! Brilliant sound!!! I think better than UK vesion (Atlantic ‎– SD 8245) !!!

As a punk listener, I used to laugh off a prog rock album as a collection of pretentious assholes making a little noise as expensively as possible. This is not the case. In The Court Of The Crimson King isn't just a fun, novel little album, but in fact managed to open me up to an entirely new genre of music that can be beautiful and powerful. I will always have a heart for punk, but I've made room for this noise as well. The artwork is bold and haunting. It sticks out in a collection, sure to grab the curiosity of someone who hasn't been fortunate enough to hear it in it's full glory. If you're not a prog rock listener, it may be an acquired taste, especially with such a in-your-face opening song, but with patience it will deliver a great listen. A definite must spin for anybody interested (or completely uninterested) in prog rock.

Also, my copy has the spine text printed on the far left edge of the front cover. Not sure if that's normal or not.
