As Is is the third British studio album by Manfred Mann, released in the United Kingdom on 21 October 1966 through Fontana Records. It was their fourth overall including a greatest hits package but their first to feature new members Mike d'Abo and Klaus Voormann. The twelve tracks on the record include the line-up's first single release, a cut-down version of Bob Dylan's Just Like a Woman that reached the UK top ten, and a short cool jazz version of Autumn Leaves, reminiscent of the Modern. The albums were released from live concert performances across the United States from the tour following the release of Mayer's second album, Heavier Things. As is a song written and performed by Stevie Wonder from his 1976 album, Songs in the Key of Life. It reached 36 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Black Singles chart. The song gets its name from the first word of the song. The song implies that the love the singer has for his partner will never diminish, as he says that he will love her until the physically impossible becomes true. The impossible feats include: rainbows burning the stars out in the sky, oceans covering the tops of every mountain. While maybe not as beloved as The Pharcydes debut, Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde, this is still an essential for both Dilla and Pharcyde fans. Two of his most classic productions are included on the albums lead single, Runnin bw Drop. Dillas first solo album, the beginning of the transition from the name Jay Dee to J Dilla, and the first release in BBEs The Beat Generation series. Entirely producing this one, as well as playing various instruments and rhyming on several of the tracks, Dilla really spread his wings here. But as O. lays bare, to truly grasp the significance of what happened not just that night, but the epic chronicle to follow, one has to travel back to a much different, much earlier origin point, at not the end, but the beginning of the 20th century, when African-Americans began migrating to California. Back when these albums were being released, and aside from Capitols clever marketing strategy, the capitol releases reflect the fast pace of the early Beatles era. All of the songs contained are short, usually less than 3 minutes each, and so are the capitol albums fast and furious, and perhaps faster paced as per life with the Beatles
