Who Arcade Fire became on their new album Everything Now-a tangled, joyless record of Banksy disco and bloodless new wave that examines fear, love, and suicide in our modern media landscape-is anyones guess. They want escapism, transcendence, innocence celebrated in the moment of its loss, wah-oh choruses. They want protest songs, hope, the romance of two married artists leading a volunteer army of lovers. They want string sections, synthesizers, parade drums, cracked tambourines, one last going-supernova chance for rock n roll. People also want nothing from Arcade Fire, except that they shut up and go away. The ban. Everything Now is Arcade Fires fifth studio released Friday 28 July, 2017. It features a more developed discoelectronica influenced sound the band experimented with on Reflektor 2013. In the lead-up to the albums release, the band launched several viral marketing campaigns including a satire music review website called Stereoyum. Arcade Fire are like a goofier, less cool, extremely self-serious, and less danceable Daft Punk, and pointing out that the only connection between the groups is an aura of Frenchness-a vague and somewhat hard to pin down aura of Frenchness, in Arcade Fires case. The album was also co-produced by Pulp bassist Steve Mackey. Album 2017 13 Songs. Everything Now. Alternative 2017. After joining forces with LCD Soundsystems James Murphy on 2013s Reflektor, the Canadian outfit bring in a similarly impressive crew of co-producers-Daft Punks Thomas Bangalter, Pulps Steve Mackey-for Everything Now, an album whose jaunty, disco-indebted art-rock is weighted with haunting takes on information overload the ABBA-esque title track and nostalgia Signs of Life . Arcade Fire's latest album is 'Everything Now. Guy Aroch. On their last LP, Arcade Fire wrestled with an age-old question: How does an earnest rock band reclaim the musics dance-floor birthright. More comfortable in their dancing shoes, Arcade Fire have it both ways on Everything Now, zeroing in on our modern malaise while taking inspiration from more concise dance-pop styles. The title track evokes Abbas earworm laboratory, with dizzying melodic ascents and a curveball pygmy-flute solo by Afropop scion Patrick Bebey. Arcade Fire's fifth studio album doesn't have the sprawling nature of The Suburbs or Reflektor nor the cacophonic intensity of Funeral, but the sequin-festooned, disco-ish Everything Now is every bit as good as these albums in its own right. Departures in sound are often unwelcome when we're already so happy with where a beloved band are, but, in this case, their experiments are a complete success. More about: Arcade Fire .
